The CoSNUG WebBoard is up and running. It is another benefit we receive from the Association of PC User Groups (APCUG). Members are welcome to logon and use it. Here is a quick rundown on how to do that.
You can access the WebBoard by clicking on the appropriate link on our Web page or, using your browser, go directly to: http://webboard.apcug.org:8080/~cosnug You'll see a welcome screen. It has two windows for Name and Password. Since you have not logged on before click on the New User icon and it will take you to the New user Information screen. Here you fill in the information requested. Only four items are required: Login name, First name, Last name, and E-mail address. There are four other optional items which I would appreciate you filling in if they apply to you. I would select Yes for Use Frames to start with. You can change it later if you like by editing your User Profile if you so desire. Click on the Create button at the bottom of the screen to create your profile. That will take you to a screen that welcomes you. It will advise you that in order to verify your e-mail address they will be sending you an e-mail message with a temporary password so you can login for the first time. You should receive that e-mail within a couple of minutes. Mine was there before I could load my e-mail client. You must login to the WebBoard using the temporary password within 24 hours or it will expire.
The message you receive will contain your Login Name and Password. Return to the WebBoard URL above and login using this Login Name and Password. I would suggest using the Window's Copy and Paste feature to copy your password. This will keep you from making a typing mistake when entering it. I would advise against checking the "Remember my password" box at this time. Once you are logged on to the board again, select the "More..." option and then the "Edit Your Profile" option. Now you can change the password you received to something easier to remember by entering the one you desire twice as requested in the Password fields. While you are in this area I would suggest you check Yes on "Automatically mark new megs read." It will make life a little easier. If you don't want to enter your Login Name and Password each time you login you can now check the "Remember my password" box at the login screen the next time you logon and it will create a "cookie" in your browser to remember it for you. However, it won't remember it forever so I recommend you write down your Login name and Password for future reference.
That's all you have to do to get logged on. Feel free to leave messages and browse around and experiment. You can't hurt anything. Be sure to use the online Help available on the Menu. It has helped me out in a few areas that I had questions about. Enjoy!
